The Piano Sonata in B-flat major, K. 333 (315c), was composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in Linz at the end of 1783. This sonata was first published on April 21, 1784 in Vienna. The actual date of composition, however, has proved more difficult to determine. Because the manuscript is not written on the type of music paper Mozart is known to have used in Vienna. Scholars believed that the piece was composed before Mozart moved to that city. Piano sonatas like this one were intended mainly as teaching pieces and were
published for the amateur pianist.
